ISO 7010 P-series prohibition labels use the internationally standardized red circle with a diagonal slash to communicate a prohibited action without language dependency. Covering no smoking (P002), no open flames (P003), no pacemakers (P007), no portable transmitters (P013), no access for unauthorized persons, do not extinguish with water, and others, these labels are well suited for international equipment and multilingual facilities.

Under ISO 3864-1 (Safety Colours and Safety Signs), the circle with a red border and diagonal slash over a black pictogram on a white background is the globally reserved shape for a prohibited action — something the viewer must not do. The red border and slash must meet minimum coverage and contrast requirements; the black pictogram is centered inside the circle.
ISO 7010 registers each safety symbol with a unique letter-prefix identifier. The P prefix (prohibition) designates symbols that instruct the viewer not to take a specific action. Examples of P-series symbols we stock:

ANSI does not define a dedicated prohibition-specific signal-word tier; a prohibited action is typically conveyed in North American practice through a DANGER- or WARNING-format label with explicit "Do Not" wording in the message panel, referenced under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.145. ISO 7010 P-series labels communicate the same prohibition using only a registered pictogram inside a red circle-and-slash — no signal word, no language-specific text.
ANSI-format "Do Not" labels convey the specific prohibited action and any consequence in English, suited to US facilities with English-speaking workforces. ISO P-series labels communicate the prohibition in a format readable by workers regardless of language. Many OEM programs apply both on the same piece of equipment — an ANSI-format label for the full message text and US compliance; an ISO P-series symbol at the point of restriction for graphic reinforcement recognized internationally.
